• Barkerville and UNBC will jointly host an Academic Heritage Symposium over three days in June of 2012 that will conclude with a gala fundraising dinner held at UNBC in Prince George, for the benefit of Barkerville
• Barkerville’s inaugural honorary Patron, The Honourable Iona Campagnolo, will deliver a key-note address, and there will be an inaugural viewing of a small sampling of Barkerville’s travelling exhibit to China, along with fun, engaging Barkerville-style entertainment

• Barkerville veteran Dave Sayer presents special daily performances at the Methodist Church
• "In 1852 John Cameron and two of his brothers travelled west from Cornwall, Ontario to the California gold rush and then in 1858 came north to the Fraser River rush. After finding a small fortune in gold Cameron returned to Cornwall where he married Sophia Groves. Soon after the marriage John and Sophia were on their way to the Cariboo gold rush of 1862 with their one-year old daughter Alice. It is on this trip that Cameron’s luck begins to change..."

• This is the main event - Barkerville’s official celebration of the 150^th anniversary of Billy Barker’s legendary placer gold strike and the beginning of the Cariboo Gold Rush. 
• Attendees will have a chance to test their luck at gold panning, learn traditional mining techniques, participate in various games and activities, and enjoy a slice of delicious Billy Barker birthday cake.
